Today I got out my straightedge and started welding on studs to straighten the door. After working with the stud welder for a little while I figured out some good techniques. First I stuck with the thinner studs, which seem to stick better. Then, When pulling on the slide hammer, the best result came when I was already pulling back on the stud and then slid the hammer back to make it keep the shape. In the end I used many studs with lots of going back and forth with the straightedge to get the door as straight as possible. The best I could do was a slight gap between the door panel and straightedge. Running my hand over the door, I could feel that the shape was restored. A thin layer of filler went on after, which I'll sand tomorrow.
I also tried to use the stud welder to remove the dents in the front of the hood, with some success....
